Definitely the best tool for rapid results. Get a few people, identify the problem(s), brainstorm countermeasures, apply them and see the end result! You can have a long and big or a short and small event - it doesn't matter. Just get some results! Any success story you may want to share?

Yes, one of the most talked and used lean tools. It's really great. As you all lean practitioners and enthusiasts know, the outcome of a proper VSM is of great importance for what comes next: waste identification! The oportunities for improvement are found through this process mapping model.

In What boosted it?
I have to say what may be considered a cliché in this subject but it's the truth: top management made it happen. The full support and constant challenging to the team boosted it and made it work. In two different companies I've seen a culture being created and one being developed and improved - it comes with time, experience and habits.
